HOSPITALS

Every treatment delivered to the right patient, with biometrics

THE PROBLEM

Patient harm caused by identification errors

1 in every 100 patients suffers harm due to identification errors.

Hospitals experience patient identification errors that can result in a medical procedure being administered to the wrong person, with serious consequences for that patient’s health.

A healthcare professional or the patient themselves may make an identification mistake, or a patient may be impersonating someone else to access another person’s medical insurance cover. The current practice of identifying patients by name or by showing an ID card neither prevents nor detects these errors.

The use of identification wristbands is always useful for tracking hospitalized patients, but it fails to eliminate these problems in most use cases, and furthermore, they are not used in outpatient procedures.

CONSEQUENCES OF THE LACK OF DIRECT TRACEABILITY BETWEEN A PATIENT AND THEIR IDENTITY

THE SOLUTION

Every treatment delivered to the right patient with Verázial ID

Verázial ID uses the most advanced iris, fingerprint and facial recognition technologies to ensure fast, error-free patient identification. The patient is identified using their fingerprints or iris on arrival at admission and again immediately before any medical procedure is administered

Suitable for all healthcare processes, including admission/reception, emergency departments, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, blood transfusions, inpatient wards, dialysis, outpatient clinics, radiology, laboratory and pharmacy. It can be deployed in one or more areas, for example those involving the most high-risk procedures, such as oncology or surgery, where the harm caused by an error is far greater.
