Ideas UPV commemorated its 30th anniversary and hosted its annual awards ceremony, recognizing Verázial and its CEO.
Yesterday, the startup Verázial Labs was honored by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) through its entrepreneurship area, Ideas UPV, at the 16th edition of the Ideas UPV Awards. These awards celebrate the most outstanding companies and startups founded at the university.
Verázial Labs secured third place out of 22 competing startups in the “Lean Awards” category.
The ceremony was attended by over 200 key figures from the Valencian entrepreneurial ecosystem and focused on exploring the evolution of Ideas UPV, covering its past, present, and future. The event brought together the leaders and contributors who have shaped the initiative over the past three decades.
Since 1992, Ideas UPV has fostered the creation of over 1,000 companies, achieving a survival rate of over 65%, a figure significantly higher than that of comparable entrepreneurial ecosystems. In addition, more than 8,300 individuals have received mentoring, with nearly 15,000 hours dedicated to personalized support. Startups originating from the UPV have raised over 500 million euros across investment rounds.
In 2012, Ideas UPV launched StartUPV, an incubation, acceleration, and mentoring program that has already supported more than 200 startups.
Through special awards, the gala highlighted the work and career paths of the individuals responsible for the program’s foundation and successful growth. Among them was the CEO of Verázial, Emilio Gallego, who was the very first entrepreneur supported by Ideas UPV 30 years ago.
